"From the times of the Situationist to the Situationist Times" - Prof. Axel Heil (Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Karlsruhe)

Axel Heil studied painting in Karlsruhe and Berlin, and ethnology and philosophy, at the University of Heidelberg. Scholarships brought him to Paris, The Hague and New York. Since 2000 he is teaching at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe, since 2002 he is professor for “Experimental Transfers”. Beside realizing his own art projects Axel Heil curates and organizes exhibitions with works of other artists, produces and designs books and is the art director of „fluid editions“, Karlsruhe, Basel, Rotterdam. Recently he has collaborated with the Tinguely Museum Basel for the exhibition “IN GIRUM IMUS NOCTE ET CONSUMIMUR IGNI – The Situationist International (1957-1972)”.
